Surely the most dramatically beautiful country in the world and all within 150 kms of Cape Town. They have more vineyards than Australia, but only a part of the harvest is sold as wine - much goes to either distillation or to grape juice concentrate. Most of the top vineyard sites thrive in almost perfect mediterranean climate with cool sea breezes from the Atlantic as well as rain predominantly in the winter months.
